Birds in Paradise, 5 lb. Bag
Light–Medium Roast
Washed | Organic | Fairtrade | Bird Friendly
Chocolate · Raspberry · Macadamia Nut
Birds in Paradise is a bright, beautifully balanced blend of organic coffees from the highlands of Guatemala and Honduras, roasted light-medium to bring out layers of chocolate, raspberry and macadamia nut.
It’s a coffee with a little sweetness, a little richness, and plenty of character.
But what makes it especially interesting is where it grows.
Coffee flourishes beneath a canopy of trees, where shade, fruit, leaves and living soil create a landscape that feels more like a forest than a field. Trees shelter the coffee plants, organic matter feeds the soil, and birds and other wildlife move through the canopy.
One of the coffees in the blend comes from Guaya’b in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, a Smithsonian Bird Friendly certified cooperative. Its coffee grows beneath diverse shade trees that provide habitat for birds and wildlife.
And somewhere in these Central American forests, a tiny traveler may be passing through.
A COFFEE FOR THE BIRDS
The Golden-cheeked Warbler breeds only in Texas before migrating south for the winter through Mexico into Central America, including Guatemala and Honduras.
Its journey is a reminder that birds don't recognize borders. They follow forests, trees, food and seasons.
That is part of the idea behind Bird Friendly coffee: good coffee can grow within a living landscape. The Smithsonian's certification recognizes farms that maintain the diverse, forest-like shade canopy that provides important habitat for migratory birds.
So pour a cup, and enjoy hints of smooth chocolate, sweet raspberry and notes of macadamia nut. Imagine the canopy overhead—the trees, the coffee, the birds, and the landscape all growing together.
